Dr B Prasad Babu (1973) M.A Psychology, M.A Education and M.ScYoga in addition to M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Psychology. He began his academic career in 1996 as a Lecturer in Psychology at Andhra University affiliated collegeand continued till 2003. In 2003, he was selected and posted as a Rehabilitation Counsellor and Psychologist at the National Career Service Centre for Persons with Disabilities (PWD), Chennai under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India where he served till 2011.
Subsequently, Dr Prasad was selected as Assistant Regional Director at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and joined the institution in 2011.Currently, he is working as the Deputy Director and looking after the Examinations at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre, Vijayawada.
Dr Prasad has authored, co-authored and edited more than 65 books in both English and regional languages. He has also published more than 25 research papers in national and international journals including those indexed in UGC CARE and Scopus. In addition, he has contributed more than 150 articles to various magazines and newspapers in the fields of Psychology and Education. Under his academic supervision, one Ph.D. and six M.Phil. degrees have been awarded and more than 25 postgraduate dissertations have been successfully completed.
He is an active member of several expert committees related to Psychology, Education and the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. He served as the Chairman of the PG Board of Studies in Psychology at Acharya Nagarjuna University (2022 to 2025). He is a Member of the UG and PG Boards of Studies in Psychology and Yoga at various autonomous colleges and universities. He is also an External Member of the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) at different universities and colleges. He is an examiner and adjudicator for research degrees in Psychology and Education at several universities. Dr Prasad has been registered as a Rehabilitation Psychologist with the Rehabilitation Council of India since 2000.
